SA Menswear Week SS16 Trends

The second SA Menswear Week took place this past weekend. The 3 day affair consisted of 26 shows all

showcasing their ideas of the perfect SS16 wardrobe. Our correspondents, Musa Nyangiwe and Ya’eesh Collins from The Cool Kid Blog picked up on the following trends :

1. Sheer elements

Designers such as Lukhanyo Mdingi, Oath by Rich Mnisi and Kim Gush used sheer and mesh fabrics in their designs, sometimes applied to masculine silhouettes and other times to more feminine silhouettes.

4. Leather Sandals and Bags

Almost all the designers presented their own version of a leather sandal in ther respective collections. Accessories such as duffle bags and satchels made appearances on most of the runways. Nigerian brand, Orange Culture, really took it to new levels with a leather retro satchel to accompany their 70’s inspired collection.
