New Music Releases From Africa and The Diaspora XI

In this edition of new music releases, London based artist Zilo starts off the playlist with her moody music video "I Dont Wanna Go Outside", for introverts worldwide, super fitting for these times we are living in, #STAYHOME.

Next up is Cape Town bred, London-based Dope Saint Jude's "Go High, Go Low", an upbeat track shot in the Cape Flats, with lyrics like "we go high, we go low and we don't ever show signs that we go slow", with dance choreography to match, the type of positive energy everyone needs right now.

Nairobi based rapper and producer Muthoni Drummer Queen's politically charged track Power is about women empowerment, the visuals explore women reclaiming their power, with a particular focus on the exploitation of women (historically) by police in Kenya. Scroll through the seven track video playlist above or directly on Youtube.

The second part of the playlist starts off with some upbeat tracks to get your body moving. Joburg based Doowap, TNT and DJ Nel's track Thunder Thighs, an Amapiano track with signature dance choreography connotes body positivity and embracing your curves, its followed by the Gqom track Danger, Gevaar, Ingozi by Surreal Sessions. The upbeat vibe continues with some hip hop tracks including female MCs. Jamaican band Friday Night Cru's summer track Follow My Lead featuring Tessellated and Amaarea introduces a slower vibe followed by some easy going jams such as Naledi by Espacio Dios featuring Muzi and ThandoNje, Endaweni by Darkie Fiction and Cocoa Butter by Xenlaii and Phinda.

Enjoy, take it easy, hydrate and stay positive.
